TURN BACK THE CLOCK

 

District 16A was comprised of Hawkins, Quitman, Hallsville, Judson, and White Oak

 

White Oak was district  Co-Champions with Quitman and advanced to the playoffs by virtue of winning a best 2 of 3 playoff.  The Roughnecks defeated the Bulldogs 69-60 in

Quitman and then clinched a playoff birth the next night with a 45-42 victory at home.

 

Quitman dealt White Oak 2 of its 4 losses on the season.

 

The Roughnecks 31 victories included wins over district champions Longview, Kilgore, and Nacogdoches.  Nacogdoches participated in the class 3A state tournament.

 

White Oak won its playoff games by an average of 14 points per game with no team getting closer than 10 points to the state champions.

Regional Quarterfinals – Defeated James Bowie 64-43

 

Regional Semifinals – Defeated Cooper 40-29

 

Regional Finals – Defeated Holliday 51-41

 

State Semifinals – Defeated Three Rivers 68-55

 

State Finals – Defeated McGregor 66-51
